What is the IELTS exam?
The International English Language Testing System(IELTS) is a standardized English proficiency test that can be used for entry into English-speaking universities or as part of visa requirements. The duration of the exam is 2 hours 40 minutes consists of 40 minutes of the listening test, 60 minutes of a reading test, and 60 minutes of a writing test in a day and a speaking test is done the other day which takes around 10-15 minutes.
What is the PTE exam?
Pearson Language Test is the new English proficiency test that was launched by the UK in 2009. Like IELTS it has 3 parts: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. PTE academics are only applicable to those students who are applying to study abroad. Even though PTE is still relatively new it is accepted by most around the globe. PTE Format
PTE Exam format includes 20 different questions which test Speaking & Writing skills, Reading skills, and Listening skills. - Comparatively, although having some drawbacks, if you are an introvert and have problems having face-to-face interaction then PTE is a better option for you. However, IELTS has a better speaking qualification test so if you have better vocabulary then you could achieve more points.
- If you are more used to the computer then PTE could hold an advantage.
- IELTS has easy availability of dates but PTE dates can be found 2-3 months after. So, if you want to apply for earlier dates IELTS can be done.
